Wat Phra Si Sanphet

Wat Phra Si Sanphet was a royal temple within the former palace complex of Ayutthaya. Its three large, bell-shaped chedis stand together on a raised platform and form one of the old capital's most recognizable historic views. These chedis contain the ashes of Ayutthaya kings, reflecting the site's close relationship with the monarchy. The remaining structures belong to a much larger royal religious complex. Visitors come to admire the distinctive line of chedis and understand how the temple formed part of the ceremonial life of the former kingdom.
